Child, Youth & Family Support Center (CYFSC)

NAFI CT’s Child, Youth and Family Support Centers (CYFSC) are multi-modal centers focusing on a scope of targeted services for status offenders and delinquent children/youth. NAFI’S CYFSC program provides comprehensive services incorporating evidence-based practices that target changing behavior and recidivism reduction. Services include screening and assessments, cognitive-behavioral group interventions, family mediation, case management services to address basic needs and pro-social activities, and discharge planning that are gender-specific, evidence- / research-based, culturally competent, and trauma informed. The length of stay for children / youth at the CYFSC varies based on risk and needs, but averages about 4 months.

CYFSC referrals come from Juvenile Probation and target the following population:

  • 11-17 years old
  • Males and females
  • Status Offending Children/Youth: All Family with Service Needs (FWSN) found to meet FWSN referral criteria
  • Delinquent Children/Youth: Adjudicated and Pre-adjudicated on a suspended detention order
