Hartford, CT - NAFI Connecticut, Inc. is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Spirit of the Community Awards, presented during this year’s annual NAFI/NFI Agency Conference. These awards honor individuals who exemplify the organization’s values through leadership, compassion, integrity, and dedication to the individuals, families, and communities we serve.
This year’s award recipients included the following employees from the NAFI CT-NY-RI Region:
Heather Kalin, NAFI Connecticut
Erica Pagan, NAFI New York
Susan Reed, NAFI Rhode Island
“These individuals represent the heart of NAFI in Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island” said Amy Lefebvre, Executive Director for the region. “Their work reminds us that the impact of our mission is not only reflected in services delivered, but also in the relationships, advocacy, and perseverance that shape outcomes for those we serve. Each recipient stands as an example of what it means to lead with humanity.”
Each honoree was recognized for unique contributions that reflect the spirit of the award:
- Heather Kalin was honored for her exceptional leadership, fairness, and ability to guide teams through complex situations with clarity, equity, and compassion.
- Erica Pagan was recognized for her commitment to client engagement, collaboration, and her unwavering optimism in the face of challenges.
- Susan Reed was celebrated for more than three decades of service and her remarkable dedication to residents, staff, and the Lincoln House community.
The Spirit of the Community Awards are presented annually to employees who demonstrate the core values of NAFI/NFI and model the highest standards of service, teamwork, and professionalism.
“While their roles and experiences are different, what unites these honorees is the extraordinary way they show up for others,” added Lefebvre. “Their work strengthens programs, inspires colleagues, and changes lives.”
